PS1 – Advanced technologies for risk reduction
For each type of human activity we have to take risks, it is a natural process that can be eliminated by introducing various types of safety measures. Various types of industrial activities bring along different kinds of risks. Nowadays, there is a continual development of innovative technologies that make it possible to design more efficient and productive systems. These systems are available and offer an increasing variety of functional options (nanotechnology, minimization, intelligent sensors, etc.). The problem is that some of the more complex technological systems are still insufficiently studied and identified. Reactions and behaviour of workers in certain situations caused by natural human actions, which increase the likelihood of erroneous decisions and severity of subsequent reactions, have not yet been identified in detail.
Objectives and priorities of the research
The usage of new development technologies that are effective in improving industrial safety is necessary for extending and supporting the research of the overall safety of developing technological machinery. Due to the increase in complexity of production systems it is of the highest importance that these systems perform the required functions also in combination with safety requirements. It was the pursuit of using new technologies in the field of industrial safety that set the basis for defining the scope of research.
This includes the development of knowledge related to the use of advanced technologies, divided into several areas:
- risk reduction technology at the source and the direct safekeeping of a subject
- risk reduction technology for the collective protection system and equipment
- new materials, technologies and test methods for personal safety equipment
